As for your question, I would like to say that I take everything as it comes and am all zen and serene about it. Unfortunately, it sometimes takes the form of assuming the fetal position and wailing. One thing I've noticed is that life often isn't what I "expected" or even what I "wanted" and that there is a very great element of surrender and seeing where the path will lead. Scary. Also exciting. A 70-year old (practicing!) psychologist in my Sunday morning yoga class recently told me that anxiety and excitement are the same thing - it's your mindset that determines which it will be.
